I am a professor in the Department of Management Science and director of the Lancaster Centre for Forecasting. I have published widely in almost all aspects of forecasting including on topics as diverse as global warming and the contribution statistical modelling can make, the combination of judgmental forecasts and statistical forecasts and statistical modelling of sales, from the perspectives of both retailers and manufacturers. I have also successfully supervised many doctoral students.

Amongst my research interests are:

- Comparative performance of various methods of forecasting
- Forecasting method selection and the evaluation of forecasting methods
- Forecasting systems to support production and inventory
- The effects of promotions on fast moving consumer goods
- The organization of the forecasting function
- Adoption and diffusion of new technology
