I am a Reader in Statistics having previously been a Lecturer and then Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester.

My research interests span computational statistics and applied probability. My main research area is the mathematical modeling of infectious disease spread and statistical tools for analysing infectious disease data. This involves using a wide range of mathematical techniques such as stochastic processes, branching processes, Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) and approximate Bayesian computation. I am also interested in methodological developments of MCMC and applying MCMC to time series models. I am involved in a collaboration with Business Safety Systems in developing MCMC methods to predict unscheduled absences.
