On Friday 30th September this year, STOR-i's usual coffee morning was made very special by hosting “The World's Biggest Coffee Morning” in support of Macmillan Cancer support who offer invaluable care to patients fighting cancer. Among the STOR-i students are a number of keen bakers who are always looking for ways to test their skills, and what better opportunity to use this to raise money for such an excellent charity.
In total we had 14 bakes made by 11 students, some of whom have had the honour of being the “star baker” during the great STOR-i bake off in previous years. Although not competitive this time, our bakers did not disappoint with fantastic contributions including home-made fudge, flapjacks, millionaires shortbread, marshmallow cookies, cake-pops and various other cakes and biscuits.
With the promise of so many tasty treats on offer to raise money for charity, we welcomed both staff and students from across the STOR-i CDT, Mathematics and Statistics and Lancaster University Management School to the STOR-i Hub. With good food and great company, an hour soon flew by in which we raised a total of £271.17 for Macmillan Cancer Support which will help pay for the vital work of the Macmillan nurses.
Thank you to all the bakers and people who attended and donated for making this such a success.
